Sixth graders enjoy immersive "flight" experiences as they begin each Social Studies unit, virtually traveling to each new country and exploring its food, history, and customs.
Fifthsonian Museum
Fifth graders undertake their own historical research journeys, writing original research papers and creating accompanying project artifacts, which are then displayed for the community in the annual Fifthsonian exhibit.
Morning Meeting
Across divisions, classes begin each day with a Morning Meeting: a chance to check in, connect, and prepare for the day ahead.
Overnight Trips
Starting in fourth grade, students experience overnight trips each year, spending time outdoors together, trying new things, and bonding with their classmates.
Play-Based Learning
Teachers design play areas and both structured and open-ended activity centers that encourage cognitive, social, and physical development while supporting teamwork, creativity, and discovery. Through these activities, Early Childhood students develop social skills and engage in meaningful, play-based experiences.
Robot Petting Zoo
Every year, C5 students build original robot creatures, coding sensors, lights, and motors so the robots can sense, 'think', and act. The project culminates in the Robot Petting Zoo, when CEE classes and parents see and interact with the robots.
School Families
All Elementary students are part of a School Family. They stay in their Family, named after Crayola crayon colors, throughout their time at CEE. Sixth graders lead these multi-age groups in activities, games, and service projects in regular meetings.
Winter Sing
Elementary students and their families look forward to the big Winter Sing concert each year. During the performance of "The Wish" as the last song, alumni in attendance are invited to come forward and sing with the current students.
